Blue Oyster Cult...heavy metal or no?

I happen to look them up on Wikipedia last night to prove my fiance wrong on a thing or two...(why does he always underestimate my music knowledge?) lol And I myself was shocked to learn they consider them heavy metal...*shrugs* guess I can't know it all...what do you think heavy metal or not?
